Best Speakers for Jazz and Classical Music

Part of the reason we are looking for jazz and classical performers today is that they’re both so close to each other in terms of classification. I know that some of you are shocked and appalled by that, which is different from my other article I wrote. But I feel they do share a lot of similarities, plus this is my article so I can make up the rules as I go along!

What prompted this article was a guide we recently published on the site called, The Best Small Speakers in Vintage Style. The title suggests we looked only at vintage speakers but that’s not the case. I have mentioned many times that these speakers sound great for jazz and classical music. These are the kinds of tunes we talked about in that segment, so you’ll be able to see why pretty quickly.

Deciding on what kind of speakers is your best bet is a lot tougher than it may seem. Not only do they need to sound good, but they also have to look nice. If your speakers are visible, you might as well make sure they look good. Make sure they don’t just have a practical function, but add to the visual of your setup. I think there is no better music for class than jazz and classical!

You don’t have to worry about getting the best possible speakers – we’ve got you covered. Our prices range from 50 to 500 and our lineup of experts is unbeatable. I have speakers to go on the bookshelf and those ones that you stand on the floor.

1. Edifier R1280T Powered Bookshelf Speakers

I thought I would start this search for the best speakers for jazz and classical music with a set of speakers I know very well, the Edifier R1280T Powered Bookshelf Speakers. I personally think these are speakers that offer a timeless design without fail. The wooden enclosure that Edifier has gone for with this set of speakers, however, does give them a very luxurious feel and the dark colour really blends in well.

These speakers are a steal at $99! Once you get your hands on them you can adjust the volume, treble, and bass with the dials on the side (or else use the remote). One surprising thing about them is how lightweight they are. It’s awesome, the quality of them just feels good because of the materials and weight when you hold one for the first time.

I’ve listened to all styles of music through these speakers and I was never disappointed. Give them a chance, they need to break in before you break them again. These headphones have a great sound regardless of the volume they’re set at, with no distortion and high-quality sound.

They’re on the low-end of the speakers market, to be sure; but considering the price, I’d say this is a great deal. You’ll have a hard time finding speakers of a higher quality than these in the 100 dollar price range. They offer great sound, which is worth the investment.

At the asking price, these Edifier R1280T Powered Bookshelf Speakers are going for, I do not think there is a better value for money option on this entire best speakers for jazz and classical music list! These are very stylish and would blend in anywhere. To be honest, the sound quality these earbuds produce is phenomenal. I’ve experienced no distortion on any songs that I listened to and they’re really comfortable, too!

Pros:

  • The design of these truly is timeless
  • You will be blown away by how crisp and clear the sound is
  • These are very well made
  • Not many speakers can match these in terms of value for money

Cons:

  • The dials on the side may be a bit distracting
  • They do require a fair bit of breaking in

2. Klipsch RB-51 II 2-Way Bookshelf Speakers

I am a huge fan of what these Klipsch RB-51 II 2-Way Bookshelf Speakers offer. These speakers cost $199 and I think that’s a fair price for the quality provided. They’re twice as expensive as Edifier speakers, so that might be something to keep in mind. What grabs your attention with these and what makes them ideal for this best speakers for jazz and classical music list is the design.

These have a very elegant design with wood that is darker in color and overlayed with gold-looking metal. I typically describe the music they play as jazz with a more laid-back, club vibe. They would be great in any room type! It’s worth mentioning that Klipsch also has a center speaker that matches its speakers but costs in excess of $180.

The first time you use them, it’s pretty clear that these guys are powerful. Yes, you’ll need a little break-in period to get the most out of them. These songs have a lot of depth and don’t get distorted even when you turn the volume up to its highest.

These speakers have a nice heavy-duty woofer and high-quality tweeter that really let you hear each instrument the way it was intended to be heard. I tested these speakers out for a few months before passing them onto my cousin – she’s just as blown away by them as I am. So one of the best complements I can give them is that after testing out, they had me hooked up to a hi-fi in my study for a few months before I passed it on to her.

I am really, really impressed with these Klipsch RB-51 II 2-Way Bookshelf Speakers. I can honestly promise you that if you use these for just an hour, you’ll see why they are so highly regarded. The sound quality is just immense. Everything I played through these speakers sounded great. Not only does it sound incredible, but the artwork also gives off an old Jazz club feel that looks like it could have been taken from the 40s!

Pros:

  • I love the retro design that they have gone for
  • They have a very strong and sturdy construction
  • There are next to no negative reviews for these speakers!
  • The sound quality is amazing pretty much right out of the box!

Cons:

  • They are double the price of the Edifier speakers we just looked at
  • If you want to add that center speaker, it nearly doubles the price!

3. Sony SSCS3 3-Way Floor-Standing Speaker

To say that I love Sony is a massive understatement so there was no way in hell we were getting through this best speakers for jazz and classical music article without Sony making an appearance. I went for the Sony SSCS3 3-Way Floor-Standing Speaker. Now, note that I said “speaker” because this is just one of three so you’ll have to buy two of them to make up a set. When I did my calculations it came out to be $316 which honestly isn’t too bad considering this is.

I love the way these look, they stand out nicely and have a real sense of class to them with their sophisticated black wood. They not only look cool, but for those that want their music to be loud and clear too then these are the product you need. These are nice little details to have, including the base they can stand on. On top of that, they’re so perfect!

Sony has always been known for great audio and these high-end headphones are no exception. They did an awesome job with the speaker system, I love the woofer and tweeter pairing they chose. When I first used these, I was impressed because of how good the sound quality is for this price point. It offers a lot of bass despite it being on the cheaper end and is loud enough to fill up any large room.

You will be able to hear all the instruments clearly with these earphones. The breaking in period is a little longer than you might expect– but it’s worth it! I’m a big fan of Sony products and I think that their SSCS3 3-Way Floor-Standing Speakers are a good choice. If you ever have a cold, these humidifiers are great because they’re tiny and can be put in your mouth to get some relief. Granted, you do need to buy two – that’s my only negative comment about them.

They look cool and would honestly go well in a music fan’s house. They could be from the 80s, or from today’s jazz-filled world. These are some of the best speakers I’ve come across. They’re perfect for any environment and always bring something interesting to the table.

Pros:

  • These really do look cool
  • They have a very solid build quality
  • I love how the sound is so clear
  • I think that the asking price is more than fair

Cons:

  • You do have to remember to buy two!
  • These may be a tad on the large size for some people

4. Jamo Studio Series S809 Floorstanding Speakers

Here are these Jamo Studio Series S809 Floorstanding Speakers for you to check out. This is a great way for us to round up our best speakers for jazz and classical music list. These speakers seem to be a great price. I think they’re pretty large and sound great!

This table is made of white plywood, but it’s the walnut finish we want. I love the way they look here with their clean and classy design. I mentioned before (with Klipsch) how they give off a really upmarket vibe. But these also have that real jazz-club-style, which adds a bit of style in my opinion. The white ones are cool but lack the personality these speakers offer.

How tall are these speakers? They’re great for music or playing movies too. Yes, you can also attach these add-on speakers that can be placed on top of the ones you already have. I did have to drill some holes into the top of these speakers, but they’re not so obvious.

They’re one of the best brands of speakers I’ve ever come across. They have a style to them when it comes to performance and that’s something I can agree with. Sorry to disappoint, but I don’t grasp all the technical details of this system, either.

I can tell you that these headphones really pop. The sound they produce is really intense and loud when cranked up. If you have a lot of vinyl collectors on your holiday list, then consider this as a potential gift to give them :). These speakers are high-end in every regard and the price is comparable to other, less impressive sets. I have looked at more expensive speakers and found them lacking in comparison. I would have happily kept the review set of these I was sent, that is how good they were.

I don’t know what else to say other than they are amazing. The best speakers I have ever had! They have the sought-after, classic look and they look fantastic. It’s a great set of speakers to show others what you’re capable of. These speakers look great and sound great too. It doesn’t matter if you’re listening to music or watching a movie, they’ll always sound fantastic.

Pros:

  • I love the whole style of these
  • They are built incredibly well
  • The sound quality truly is great
  • They are Dolby Atmos ready

Cons:

  • Due to having to purchase the Dolby Atmos speakers separately, there are four holes on the top
  • The white version of these lacks the class factor if you ask me!

Conclusion

All four of the speakers that we have looked at today are great and could easily be regarded as the best speakers for jazz and classical music. I know I said it’s the easy way out and this is me speaking as a presenter, but I really don’t think anyone will be disappointed with any of these speakers. Here you can find bookshelf speakers.

It’s hard to say. They’re both great – but it sounds like the Klipsch speakers are worth the extra 100 bucks, right? If I’m being honest, it’s hard to say one way or the other if you’re looking to spend that extra 100 bucks. You should think about what you want out of a gaming experience before deciding. There is no way that they are worth $100 more than what they cost.

As much as I love Sony, I think the Jamo Studio Series S809 Floorstanding Speakers deserve this one. They’re just too awesome to ignore. They not only sound great, but they look very classy. A lot of people who listen to Jazz and Classical music really like this radio station.

The price of a speaker is dependent on the size, features, and quality of the speaker.
