This is a really easy set to set up, and is an excellent deal. The lack of bass tweaking features are disappointing, but these speakers don’t really need any work at this price.
The standout feature is the THX certification. THX is a standard from Lucasfilm Ltd., the behind Star Wars and Indiana Jones. The certification means that products must pass quality and performance tests to gain.
There isn’t a remote on this device which might be disappointing for some. But the controls are located along the front and are accessible, so it shouldn’t be a problem to use.
The speaker has a control panel on the bottom of it. If you need to adjust where it’s placed, just slide it out and put it wherever you’d like! The most practical placement is to the bottom again, but keep in mind that your desk may be cluttered.
Klipsch’s speaker wire is a good balance between technical quality and ease of use. With 22 gauge wire, you won’t have to worry about soldering, but it does limit how much you can trim it without compromising sound quality.
There are wireless and wired options from Klipsch – the wireless one is more expensive at $20 more, but it’s a good option if you want to cut down on all the cables.

THX have their own certification called THX and if you look closely you will see their logo on all the speakers. THX certified speakers handle dialogue and other sounds well, while the subwoofer gives a powerful bass.
Compliance with THX standards make the subwoofer extend to 20Hz at -6dB. This means the sub is not complying with normal frequency response standard of -3dB, but fear not, it does transmit 20Hz at -6dB.
The controls on the speaker can’t be detached like they are on the Klipsch, which is a bit of a bummer because they’re having to sacrifice this small but notable innovation.
One big thing to note when buying is that the Klipsch option also includes a Bluetooth connection. It’s an extra $20 but can be bought separately if needed. The Klipsch has some advantages and disadvantages though.
The bluetooth adapter isn’t required but it does have some wires that will run to the bluetooth box. It can get a bit messy so you should consider that as well before you make your purchase.
Speaking of wires, the Logitech G533 had a couple of pro-tips to offer. They opted for 3.5mm male jacks instead of exposed speaker wire which helps get everything set up quicker. But since they were clever they also included some slack that you can use to tidy things up in between gaming sessions. Because Klipsch speakers are exposed, so the trimming process is much easier. That said, it’s still a complex process and pre-soldering plugs becomes necessary.
On the lowest end of the price spectrum, you can get 2 satellite speakers and a powerful sub. These are great for a small-medium room with not too much space. They’re big sound will fill up any entertainment space like a moderately sized living room or studio apartment.
Design
Klipsch Promedia 2.1
Outside of speakers. Klipsch is also known for their beautiful looking speakers. Even though this smaller set can’t compare to the larger ones in the lineup, Klipsch still managed to make them look great.
The speakers themselves are black, but Klipsch made the front of them slightly curved. The cone is golden and gives them a special, almost artful look. I can assure you the color won’t detract from the set, but because it’s on close inspection it does add a nice aesthetic to make that part of the panel look really good.
As mentioned before, the right speaker comes with the control pod. This detachable unit serves all as the control hub of what you are working on. On the front, you’ll find volume controls for the satellites and the sub, with equally placed buttons on one side.
It’s a small detail, but being able to detach this under-unit and move it anywhere is great! It also serves as a pre-amp, so there is an extra cable linking it to the subwoofer.
Even in the lower segment of its lineup, Klipsch still looks great and is practical. The detachable control pod is a smart design and the handsome design separates it from other competitors out there in this price bracket.
Logitech Z623
I couldn’t agree more with you about Logitech. Their designs for my taste aren’t the best out there–I can appreciate their metal grilles and the protection they provide, but personally don’t find them as pleasing to look at as Klipsch.
Seems backwards to me… the satellites are slightly smaller but the subwoofer’s slightly bigger. I think it has to do with desk space being more limited these days, while floor space can be plentiful with larger speakers.
Logitech has made good use of the limited space on the right satellite by offering volume, power, bass and inputs – essentially it functions in exactly the same way as the control pod.
Klipsch doesn’t offer that kind of input. The Z623 offers RCA and 3.5mm input, but the z625 (which is the same set of speakers) has optical input. If you’re hooking up to a modern TV, this is essential.
The look of the set might not be my definition of beautiful, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad. Logitech manages a decent looking set that, while a little inconvenient in size, definitely isn’t an eyesore.
Sound Quality
Klipsch Promedia 2.1
Based on the speakers’ features, Klipsch seems to live up to previous models. With boosted sound output and a design that is fit for travel, these speakers are a blast to use.
The 6 ½-inch downfire subwoofer is something special. It might not be the best sounding one out there, but it’s still impressive considering the price. The volume can be controlled from a separate control pod, so you can customize it to your taste.
One of the things that sets this speaker set apart from others is its sound clarity. Speakers in this price range often sound overblown with no true low-end coming out. Audio might be loud, but it never has the deepness you want.
Unfortunately, this isn’t the case with most car audio systems. The bass on this one is tight and responsive, without any excessive crossover. Klipsch really put a lot of thought into the subwoofer in the system they bundled together here.
The speaker system is quite nice. The 3-inch tweeters aren’t too high for most people and without a sub there’s still solid low end, clear midrange and high end sound.
Would you like to listen to your music while also watching a YouTube video or browsing Facebook? That’s what Klipsch Promedia 2.1 speaker set helps make possible. It doesn’t replace high-quality speakers for listening to music, but it is great for getting some sound out of a computer.
Logitech Z623
Klipsch possesses some features that make their Z623 system a better option than Logitech’s z523. It doesn’t really have anything on Klipsch’s titan of audio, though.
You can still feel the bass on these headphones, but it’s not as tight or defined as before. To me, the sound is a bit too muddy and loud to the point where it will shake your floor.
The speakers are way better. Mids are a little recessed, but they’re smooth and natural-sounding. They can be a bit too present at high volumes, but they’re still not too shrill.
Even though the set doesn’t sound bad for the price, my past experience with Logitech speakers didn’t really have an influence. I noticed these were clearer and more responsive than Logitech speakers typically are. The volume is also still good, even on low settings.
THX-Certified
These speakers are THX-certified and this is a big deal. These standards are set in stone and make sure the quality of your chosen speakers will be amazing.
Come on, you know if it’s Logitech or Klipsch, they’re not messing around – both of these speakers are up to a high standard.

Filmmakers might not consider the sound on 2.1 systems as a big deal, but audiophiles with 5.1/7.1 setups deserve the best audio possible too. These will be great for using on a computer but also for any time that you wanna enjoy some music or watch a show in the living room.
Convenience
You might be wondering: ‘Seriously? These are cheap PC speakers, right?’ THX certification is overrated. Spending so much time on deep sound processing just for one viewing seems pointless. Plus you have to take time to setup the cables and make it fit your TV.’
In most cases, the answer is no. yeah, both the Z623 and ProMedia 2.1 are wired speakers. They’re about convenience — for example, there’s a headphone jack on the satellites and separate volume/bass knobs.
Logitech* speakers sound great and can be used with up to three devices. You can also have your PC, gaming console, and TV plugged in at the same time and then just change your input type to watch a movie on the TV or to play PC games.
Granted, you might need to mount your TV above your computer screen in order for this to work, but hey, it’s better than nothing and definitely better than what most other wired 2.1 setups offer.
The Klipsch ProMedia 2.1, unfortunately, lacks such a feature, but it does come with a completely different one that will probably be more useful. Namely, the control pod of the ProMedia 2.1 can be freely swapped between the right and the left satellite.
While this doesn’t really help with home theatre in any way, it can go a long way in preventing cable clutter while gaming with a headset.
Conclusion
Getting a decent set of speakers for your computer without breaking the bank is tough, but both Klipsch and Logitech offer options that are consumer-friendly and are at a great price point.
The Klipsch set is best for those who demand quality audio and do not mind paying more. The bass response is tight and clear, making it worth the high price.
Even though the Logitech set isn’t perfect for me, I would still recommend it since it’s a pretty good deal. And if you don’t want to spend more on a higher-end speaker set and are ok with the looser low end, then the extra $40 off is definitely worth it.

Plus it’s a good price and size, but if you’re not careful with it then you could have some problems because it’s made out of plastic.
