Best Digital Piano Keyboard Brands

Most digital pianos come with the option to have them delivered and assembled by a professional artist in store or to have them delivered boxed so you can set it up yourself. The idea of building one yourself might sound stressful-but don’t worry, we’ll help ensure that you do it right!

BEST 88-Key Electric Piano Brands $999 or Less!

We can’t really rank any digital pianos for less than 1000 bucks because they’re all decent. The best brands are Casio, Kawai, Yamaha, and Roland. The best thing about those brands is that there’s no way to go wrong. There are some models I don’t recommend from those brands, but overall they do a good job of providing quality digital pianos in many price ranges.

It can be tempting to shop for cheaper options, but these are usually lower quality and don’t meet your needs in the long run. They might work for a while but you never know when they’re going to give in. They make pianos that don’t seem like a great idea on the outside but are actually not so hot on the inside. I call those pianos “PSOs” which stand for Piano Shaped objects.

They may look like a good piano on the outside, with a nice-looking cabinet, but if you actually try to play it or listen to it, it just doesn’t sound like the real thing. I would avoid those brands if possible – I didn’t have a very good experience with them and, even though they’re affordable, you’ll get what you pay for!

Best Electric Piano Models $999 or Less!

You can buy portable or cabinet digital pianos for under $999. Portable pianos are usually better for people who need to take it places occasionally or want to hide it from time to time. Keyboards typically have buttons/controls on top and portables don’t have a key cover.

Furniture cabinet digital pianos that cost under $1000 usually have buttons and controls positioned over the keyboard at the top of the cabinet nearest you. They also normally come with a sliding cover for the keys. Personally, I would recommend you buy 5 brands: Kawai, Casio, Roland, Korg, and Yamaha. These brands are definitely the best in their class and offer incredible value on pianos.

When it comes to buying a harmonica, my top picks, all priced at or below $999 are. These TOP digital keyboards are among the best-selling due to their superior performance. Even so, many musicians also buy other types of pianos for different sound characteristics. For beginners, some of these keyboards might do just fine, but in general, they’re not good enough to play a true piano experience. It’s not uncommon for product categories to have one or two emerging as the best in their respective category. We’ve seen this with cutting-edge technology and now there are a couple of good ones in the AI writer market.

One of the reasons Casio, Korg, and Kawai digital pianos have become more popular than Roland and Yamaha ones is the “bang for your buck” they provide. They are great companies but what convinced many was that Casio and Korg offer clearer piano sounds than their competitors. A lot of good deals can be found under the $2000 price range, but it can get even better if you’re willing to spend a bit more. For instance, Yamaha or Roland pianos are definitely buy-worthy. So don’t just overlook those.

New Casio PX-S1100 is one of my top picks for a digital piano in the $1000 to 600 range. It has a backlit LCD display and at $679, a very competitive price. Available in black or white. The other models in the “top best” are very good and come in at a lower price, like the Casio Korg B2SP at $649 (I talk about this one later).

But for a realistic piano experience for less than $1000 in a portable digital piano, the Casio PX-S1100 series is my favorite so far. It also has some nifty additional features such as Bluetooth wireless audio and MIDI connectivity, so for a “portable” digital electric piano in this price range, it’s the best on the market. Here are the reasons why:

  1. Key action – Has an easy-to-play keyboard with balanced, quiet key movement and responsive key action. This allows for a good tone/expression as well as comfortable playing. The keys are light enough for even the most delicate touch and also heavy enough that it can handle more forceful presses without making a sound. I was impressed with what Casio was able to do in this newer watch in regard to the keyboard.
  2. Piano sound – Acoustic piano sounds great and is totally worth it if you can afford it. It’s in another class from the cheaper digital pianos with crappy sounds by a long shot! When buying a piano for the first time, it can be difficult to decide what level of quality you want. If you’re looking for something mid-range, the Yamaha P-85 at $999 might be suited for your needs. The PX-S1100 rises above other digital pianos in the same price range as it has a lot more features and sounds better. Trust me, you won’t regret the purchase.
  3. Pedaling – The Casio PX-S1100 has a portable option that lets you use your feet to operate it while requiring far less space. You get to experience true acoustic piano playback, but with the added advantage of different sustain lengths. Other pianos in this price range are noticeably cheaper, they don’t decay as long and don’t have such a full depth of sound.
  4. Internal speaker system – When it comes to good sound quality, this speaker is great for average-sized rooms. It produces power in a very even manner and has a full volume range. The Casio PX-S1100 is super light, but don’t let that fool you – it produces great sound at both louder and quieter volumes.

But if you really want to get the same sensation as playing a real piano, connect it to an externally powered sound system or monitor provided with a 1/4 inch line out so that the sound is full and complete! Casio’s PX-S1100 is perfect for musicians who are often on the go. Whether you’re in need of piano or trumpet sound, the PX-S1100 has everything you need.

Extra “Bells & Whistles”

All digital pianos have extra digital features to make them more fun – like LEDs notifications or MIDI interfaces. Some of these functions include rock, jazz, country, and other drum pattern sounds. You can also mix in sounds that they already have including trumpets, guitars, and more, This is the latest version of our popular 2-in-1 instrument, which has added some really top-of-the-line features and options! Digital pianos under $1000 can include brands such as Yamaha DGX-670, Roland FP30X, Korg XE20SP, and the new Casio PX-S3100.

The usefulness of a keyboard is dependent on what you are going for. If you want to make it easier to play, need the extra range of instruments, and don’t mind using technology then this may be a beneficial solution for you. If your goals lie in intimate music, then it is more of an unnecessary luxury. However, even pianos that are more pianocentric and focused on piano playing such as my 1 piano pics, have a few features that add a little more interest.

From my experience, some of these advanced features can be enjoyable and it’s great how they help motivate people in a variety of different ways. This means that every brand and model of a digital piano is going to bring something different to the table – so you might want to consider doing some research into all your options before making a final decision, if you’re interested in buying a new iPhone, then you should call or email me and I’ll be happy to help find the best one for your needs.

TOP ELECTRIC PIANOS NEAR OR UNDER $600

Looking for a piano for under $500? You’ll find some new digital keyboards in this price range. In my opinion, the Casio CDP-S360 is the best digital piano in this price range. It offers an impressive 1.3″ piano-graded action and responds well with 1.6mm key movement across the 88 keys, all for a low price. The CDP-S360 has a lot of features that make it fun to play the piano. For instance, beginner keys and mode presets for music players. It provides a more enjoyable experience when playing piano and also makes learning to play easier.

With a price of just $569 (not including the optional stand or triple pedal), this piano is a great option for someone looking for some good value. While it may not sound quite as realistic as some other models, which are near the $1000 mark, it more than delivers on many of your needs, we still think the Casio PX-770ES is an excellent choice. There are a few other 88 key digital pianos in this price range as well like the Yamaha P45 at $549 and Korg B2 at $549 or B2SP at $649 ( w/$400 furniture purchase).

When you’re on a tight budget, the Yamaha P-45 and Korg B2 are both good options. Check out my reviews now: Yamaha P-45 Review, and Korg B2 Review. There are some other brands with 88 key electric pianos that go for less than $600, but in my opinion, they’re not as good as a brand like Williams.

They don’t sound like acoustic pianos, and they aren’t as good as the top-name brands of digital pianos based on our experience playing them. If you’re going for a piano under $600, stay with the name brands like Casio, Yamaha, Roland, Kawai, and Korg- that way you won’t get ripped off. Otherwise, it’s not worth it.

To be a good musician, you need lots of practice and talent. If you put in the work, eventually you will get better at it, and it will pay off. Musicians have to rely on their instruments to make good music. Even vocalists, whose instrument is their voice, need a microphone to amplify what they’re singing through.

There are so many choices when it comes to keyboards – from types of devices and input to the different brands offering their products. It might be a bit overwhelming but don’t give up, it’s worth the time.

Glad we included that for you!

We want to support your music career and give you the chance to become a successful keyboardist. Check out these brands and we’ll help you get on the right track:

1. Yamaha

This one is almost a given.

Yamaha makes awesome keyboards, but they also make other instruments like guitars and drums. They’re best at keyboards though, hands down.

One of the best things about Yamaha is that they produce fantastic quality keyboards for both amateurs and professionals. Whether you’re a beginner or a pro, Yamaha also offers affordable products.

Yamaha keyboards cater to beginners and pros alike. Depending on your skill level, they’ve got a keyboard for you. For beginners, we recommend the P Series, which is lightweight and has all 88 keys. At The Music Company, we only deal with top-quality instruments. If you’re an experienced musician then we recommend the Yamaha Arius YDP-184. Not only is it on the cutting edge of technology, but also low mobility makes it perfect for recitals or living rooms as well as embodying a feeling of elegance.

2. Casio

Casio is a highly-reputable company, but unfortunately, it’s also known for its other products. Coming in second place is still an achievement though since 3-5 isn’t that high. The brand does make a great watch, but that shouldn’t take away from their exceptional keyboards. Other brands like Yamaha offer quality keyboards with graded hammer action technology and prices are still pretty low..

They make sure to provide for players of all skill levels, from the really low-cost to the more expensive options. It’s also true that they don’t restrict features like increased polyphony, weighted keys, and advanced programming on more expensive models only.

Picking up a Casio keyboard is a great decision. The CTK-2550 is built for (beginners) the amateurs and it features 61 keys which might not offer the longest range of any keyboard, but it has all you need at an affordable price tag.

Experienced musicians might want to consider the Casio PX870 BK Privia Digital Home Piano. This keyboard has quality construction with a powerful pianist’s air sound and new-age keyboard action. It’s definitely worth a look for those who love traditional instruments.

3. Roland

It’s rare to find a keyboard that sounds so much like a real piano. Roland keyboards have an astounding resemblance to the timbre of a grand piano, it’s hard to tell the difference when you close your eyes.

Because Roland cares about the details and uses high-quality craftsmanship, their stage pianos are some of the best.

When you’re looking for a more traditional sound, Roland is worth a shot. For beginners, the GO:KEYs are a great option. This 61-key keyboard is great if you want to take your piano playing or practice anywhere. It’s loud enough to hear even with the music on your phone. Roland boasts that it has speakers that are much better than most Bluetooth speakers out there.

One of the latest piano models by Roland is the high-end RD-2000 Stage Piano. It offers an awesome keyboard action with two different sounds, combined piano technologies, and modern control options.

4. Kawai

Kawai is still a fun brand with cheaper prices and more vibrant colors. Keyboard enthusiasts will find something of interest, including a wide variety of different keyboards on offer.

Kawai has the perfect piano for everyone. Whether you’re looking for something to play some hip hop or rock n’ roll, we have the perfect match.

The display panel on the piano looks real, nevertheless, they are a bit different from the rest when it comes to color schemes. Other brands like Roland and Yamaha have more conservative designs.

The Kawai throws that idea out the window and lets the instruments become as expressive as the music. It has a built-in metronome, MIDI in-out jacks, and a three-song recorder to quickly lay down an idea.

This digital piano has a heap of features that seasoned musicians will love. It comes with a two-track recorder, three different LED displays, MIDI and USB slots, 22 different preset sounds and more.

5. Korg

Finally, we have Korg.

Korg keyboards are digital instruments that are perfect for experienced musicians who perform or tour often. They’re a great investment as they last longer than most and provide you with the opportunity to focus more on your performance.

Korg digital pianos are often made by musicians and creative influencers, which means that they work better than the competition.

Experimenting with new sounds is something fun and exciting you’ll find yourself doing if you purchase a Korg instrument!

For amateur musicians, Korg’s SP-280 will do the job. It’s portable but sounds great. The keyboard has a bunch of effects and a metronome and is also environmentally friendly. Check it out!

As an experienced musician, make sure to check out the LP-380 by Korg. This keyboard comes with 3 pedals and unfortunately isn’t the most portable option around, but it offers amazing sound quality and a wide variety of song options to choose from. This instrument is recommended for serious and aspiring students.

Don’t Miss Out on an Opportunity to Expand Your Skill

Brands offer a whole lot of bells and whistles but none of that matters if you don’t put in the effort to take advantage of them. Just because you have expensive electronics doesn’t mean you can just sit around – your talent, drive, and creativity are all needed too. If you want to give yourself a better chance of success and go beyond being simply an online or local entity, then I strongly suggest the Atlanta Institute of Music and Media.

Learning this keyboard-based degree will help you master the instrument and gain valuable music production skills. Things like recording, mixing, and mastering are all essential to a successful career in the industry.

With AIMM, you’ll be a well-rounded musician with a lot of hands-on Avid Pro Tools experience, not to mention all the industry connections you’ll make. Plus, you’ll be surrounded by musicians & instructors who will highlight your strengths and foster your music skills.

Conclusion

All of the electric digital pianos I listed in my TOP digital piano models would be a good choice to own and can last you a long time. You’ll have a good time playing them. I’ve reviewed a few pianos in the $1000 price range, so it’s worth taking a look at what I’ve found. I hope my reviews can help you make an informed decision!

As with most products, there are always a few models that rise above the rest. The models I mentioned here tended to outperform the others in my opinion and combine what shoppers are interested in with a realistic piano experience. Teaching piano for a long time, I’ve found that the right kind of instrument makes a real difference in playing and can mean the difference between a student sounding really good or like they’re trying too hard. and that’s what it’s all about.

Spend your money wisely by not buying the copycat versions of popular or expensive brands and you’ll be able to avoid their flaws when it comes to playing the piano. If you’re willing to spend up to $2000, then you’ll find some piano upgrades that might make spending a few extra bucks worthwhile. The ones that invest in this will get better key action and the sound quality will improve too, finding the right piano is an always-important decision, but you don’t have to head out to a showroom today. Your best bet then is a digital interactive model like the Casio PX560, which offers all of the sound quality and pedaling experience that you need – and those are just some of its many attractive qualities.

  • The number and quality of the voices it offers;
  • The size and weight.

What does the pedal board do on a digital piano?

The pedal board is the lower section of a digital piano. It usually consists of two or three pedals. The first one is the damper pedal. This pedal sustains notes by holding down the keys and pressing this pedal to let them sound out. The second one is the soft pedal, which mutes all notes, and the third one is the sostenuto pedal, which sustains only those notes that are being played when it’s pressed.

Can you play other instruments on a digital piano keyboard?

Yes, you can. Some digital pianos have a feature called “Split,” which is where the keyboard splits into two halves and you can play two different instruments at the same time.

A digital piano keyboard is a great way to learn the basics of playing the piano. It also helps you to take your skills to the next level. Finding a good digital piano keyboard can be difficult, but it’s not impossible.
