Today I am shopping for vintage speakers to enjoy loud and cranky music without blowing my eardrums out! I feel that today, a lot of metal music has gotten louder and wilder, so speakers should be able to do the same. Metal heads like me need some affordable, quality gear that doesn’t make their walls cave in with the vibrations.
You might not like their style, but listen to me out. What I’m going for here is speakers that I feel will satisfy those looking for a more metal aesthetic. All these speakers were black, so it’s not surprising that they’re speaking about black people.
I was really lucky because I grew up in the ’80s with parents who were really rockers. Heavy metal has always been one of my favorite genres and this list includes some of the best vintage speakers for it as well.
Top Vintage Speakers for Metal Music Review
I had a hard time finding speakers that met the criteria I was looking for at this conference. As a result, we may not have as many people here as I would have liked. There is also overlap with our best rock music speakers. However, I have made sure to pick a nice selection for you. I also have a few music recommendations for you to check out too.
1. Samsung MX-T40 Sound Tower
I am starting off with this awesome-looking Samsung MX-T40 Sound Tower! I have only had it for a little over two weeks and am very happy so far. The design is stylish and the sound quality is excellent while still being economically affordable. You should be aware of the MX-T40 as there are also T50 and T70 versions of this. The T40 is currently priced at $198 which I actually think is a deal for something like this.
I found this “Vintage Boombox” on a list of speaker recommendations and it caught my eye. Other vintage speakers looked like they could be in 2001: A Space Odyssey or the Dead Space video game series so I wanted to include it here because that’s cool. It is a little over 14 pounds and its dimensions are 10.6 x 11.5 x 20.9 inches.
This Bluetooth speaker has a standard AUX port on the back so you can connect it to your device. I hooked it up to my phone via Bluetooth so I could listen to Spotify and use this cheap CD player. I love how this speaker pumps out music, especially when I need something to get me pumped for a workout or something. There’s nothing quite like blasting your favorite tunes to keep you motivated in your daily routine! It’s great that she can be loud, but her voice is also crystal clear which is something else.

What Other People Are Saying and Music Recommendations?
I have been using this product for about a month now, and I’m very happy with the results. I’ve written 156 customer reviews, and 88% of these are positive reviews which is a sign that it’s a great product. One thing I will say is that reviews for this model are all thrown together on places like Amazon, so make sure it is the right model by reviewing the more expensive models’ reviews.
This kind of music, which is still relatively popular today, was all the rage during the late 90s and early 2000s. I’ve enjoyed sharing my time with this Samsung Sound Tower! Actually, I know we are looking for the best vintage speakers for metal here. However, it does manage to walk the fine line between 80s vintage, but it has modern amenities too. The headphones sound amazing and have great quality. I took them to a DJ show last night and they were a hit! Plus, the bass is on point.
- I like how it is like a monolith
- This is selling at a very good price on Amazon
- It is very easy to connect your devices too
- It has physical ports that you can use on the back too!
- It does take up a fair bit of space
- If I’m being honest, this may not be the most vintage design, but it is easy to work with and modern.
2. Yamaha NS-F210BL 2-Way Bass-Reflex Floorstanding Speaker
Next up we have this Yamaha NS-F210BL 2-Way Bass-Reflex Floorstanding Speaker and notice I say “speaker”. If you only plan on wearing these for one day, then don’t be too concerned about the price. These are if you ask me look more high-class metal.
Here are a pair of tall speakers with the dimensions of 9.4 x 9.4 x 41.4 inches which may be what you’re looking for if your goal is to better accommodate your space’s dimensions, or just how high the speaker needs to be in relation to your listening area for optimal audio input. I connected these speakers to my Sony STRDH590 5.2-ch Surround Sound Home Theater Receiver with great success and everyone loves them!
Yamaha makes excellent instruments. My grandparents have had this old keyboard (or whatever) for as long as I can remember, and that instrument was made by Yamaha. It’s been around for a long time, so it’s always been a company that I’ve known and supported. These speakers are made with HD in mind and I know that’s probably making you think more about movies than music, but I can tell you that these things sounded great and I sure put them through the wringer, testing every possible kind of audio configuration out on them.
I think these speakers could take a bit of breaking in to achieve their optimum sound quality, but that is just how it goes with new technology. In my opinion, they’re worth the trouble involved.
What Other People Are Saying and Music Recommendations?
A lot of people are unhappy about this one product on Amazon and it’s a big seller. You should check it out so you’re better informed before buying it. I found out about the one-day sale from a friend and discovered I was getting a good deal!
This Yamaha NS-F210BL 2-Way Bass-Reflex Floorstanding Speaker is really great. You have to spend a bit more on it, but it still only costs around $299, so you’re getting your money’s worth. I think these certainly have a bit of metal about them and the black version I’m reviewing today does have a bit of an 80’s vibe which is certainly in the spirit that we are all about today.
- I like how slim these are
- They sound fantastic
- I had a great time in the library today, it was so much easier to focus on my work with the music turned up
- They just have a very 80s kind of vibe going on which I love
- You have to remember to order two!
- I am not sure that some people will like the slim profile
3. Klipsch R-41M Powerful Detailed Bookshelf Home Speakers
I’m a huge fan of what Klipsch does and they have yet to let me down. These speakers are quite the bargain for only $110! I love the finish that these headphones have. They really resemble retro stereo equipment from the 80s.
The fact that Klipsch managed to get the price down in this range is pretty amazing. I think that when you are looking for the best vintage speakers for metal, you simply must have a set of speakers that look like these. These speakers are blacker than the night so they take up very little space and are easy to place anywhere no matter how much your space is limited.

I love my new speakers! They have a pretty small stature, but their sound quality is really commendable and they have some cool features in terms of their tractrix horn technology.
It’s not often that you are able to find headphones that you’re truly satisfied with, but I was pleasantly surprised when the sound quality was exactly what I expected. Even at the loudest volume, it felt really clear and natural.
What Other People Are Saying and Music Recommendations?
Still, a lot of people don’t know about the sound quality of these speakers – liked me until I watched their Youtube videos. They’re really surprised at just how good the sound is even though they’re cheap and small. As of writing, there are 2838 reviews for these, and 96% of them are positive.
So many people are familiar with Klipsch speakers and how great of a product they are. But what about these Klipsch R-41M Powerful Detailed Bookshelf Home Speakers? These speakers don’t have a catch to them at all, in fact, they are one of the most popular items across the market. Klipsch speakers are great, but these are made with the same love and care as their more expensive counterparts! For a much lower price, they’re a fantastic option.
- The 80s look of that black wood is very cool
- I think that these are excellent value for money
- The sound quality is very impressive
- They do not require a great deal of space
- Might not look imposing enough for some of you metalheads!
- These are wired only.
4. Sony SS-CS5 3-Way 3-Driver Bookshelf Speaker System
If you had read any other speaker guides on our website, you would’ve seen that Sony is a company I really like. That’s why I wanted to put these Sony SS-CS5 3-Way 3-Driver Bookshelf Speakers on the site. I previously talked about these speakers – the black design is perfect for our metal speaker guide from today. The asking price is more as fair at 148 bucks.
The speakers on the back have standard connections, but they don’t have wireless. You should consider that before buying these speakers. They provide a lot of volume and power even though they look like bookshelves. These range from expensive to cheap depending on what you’re looking for. They have a pretty good sound quality that looks great on your own voice.
What Other People Are Saying and Music Recommendation?
Amazon reviews for these speakers are excellent! They currently have 95% 4 and 5 star reviews. There are over 2,000 reviews for these automated writing assistants on Amazon. What’s more impressive? Out of the few reviews I managed to find, the majority had nothing bad to say. For me, this was a relief because there were only 3 stars and thus I thought that it might have been defective when it got out of the factory.
I always think that Sony does a great job and I will always admit. The Sony SSCS5 3-Way 3-Driver Bookshelf Speaker System really is great and ideal if you want something that manages to be of a high quality, but that is not going to break the bank ei.
- These have that classic Sony look which is awesome
- The sound quality of these is very impressive
- The overall build quality of these speakers is great
- These are excellent value for money
- They do not offer Bluetooth connectivity
- Might be a tad on the compact size for your setup
I actually tested these speakers myself, so if you are still not sure about which speakers you should opt for, then let me tell you I really liked all of them. If anyone has any of these, give them a fist bump! I think for me, as I have to decide which speaker is the best to buy in this best vintage speakers for metal guide, then I’ll say that Sony’s SSCS5 3-Way 3-Driver Bookshelf Speaker System is the way to go. They’re affordable and compact.
They can have basic features, but the sound quality makes up for it. I also love some of their 80s-style designs. I also like the Samsung MX-T40 Sound Tower – it has a ton of features and is pretty easy to use. This is a great speaker that can do everything you want.
